This legislation expands the authority of local jurisdictions, including Arlington, to deploy photo speed monitoring devices in residential areas and school crossing zones. Under this new measure, localities can place these cameras in any residential district where the speed limit is 35 miles per hour or less, regardless of whether a school is present.
